Major salvage operations are underway in the waters off the province of Montecristi. One particularly interesting dive trip is to Punta Rucia near Montecristi another is called Cayo Arena (Sand Island), which has incredible coral diving. Cayo Arena is sometimes covered completely by the ocean, and at other times is extremely visible for exploring depending on tides. The Big Blue Diving School takes divers on excursions to this atoll in addition to its other trips along the North and South coasts."
