PERAK- The Land of Grace....

Is your next destination for travel Malaysia? If it is, try visiting the state of Perak Darul Ridzuan, or Land of Grace as it is also well-known as. It is situated just below the state of Penang, on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It has just about everything for everyone , it is guaranteed to be a fascinating experience for all travellers. It offers infinite choices of places and graces that speak of genuine warmth and charming hospitality. From relics of the past, scenic environment in natural settings, pristine beaches, island resorts, virgin tropical recreational jungles, countless holiday hideaways, a whole host of specialised museums, to its state of ageless architectural splendour , I assure you you’d be awe-struck by all the treasures you’re bound to discover. Try visiting its capital, the city of Ipoh. A must see is the Ipoh Railway Satation which is situated at Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, one of the main roads running through the city. It is an impressive landmark which combines Moorish architecture with modern embellishments. The Station bears a close resemblance to its Kuala Lumpur counterpart, which shares the same architectural design and the distinction of being the most filmed buildings in their respective cities. What really catches the eye is its distinctive architecture, to the extent that it is affectionately known to locals as the 'Taj Mahal' of Ipoh. Surrounded by a beautiful floral garden, it serves as a charming welcome for tourists. In the garden you will find the Ipoh tree after which the city is named. The native tribes are believed to have used the Ipoh tree as part of their weaponry, in their poison-darts! Built in 1935, the building also houses the Station Hotel. As the historians have it, Perak actually pioneered train travel in Malaya. The first line's were laid by the British to satisfy the transportation demands of the tin mining industry. Another immissable scene are the limestone caves which house a few Buddhist temples, namely Kek Lok Tong, Sam Poh Tong, and Perak Tong. These picturesque structures nestled within the high limestone caves and cavities located near Gunung Rapat are a sight to behold. They are impressive works of art, with statues of Buddha in various forms among natural stalactites and rock formations. One can savour vegetarian food, served here at the temples, in peaceful surroundings amidst lotus ponds. Here you are offered the golden opportunity of feeding giant turtles dwelling in these ponds, with spinach which you can easily buy on-site.
